The Palomar Artisan Laser provides the platform for treatment of vascular lesions including facial veins & capillaries, spider veins, and unsightly veins on the face, neck, chest & legs. It also offers effective treatment of stretch marks (striae), & full ablative laser resurfacing, for once only treatment of deeper lines and wrinkles.

Facial Veins, Capillaries & Redness

Vascular lesions and capillaries present as red veins or spider veins, and red spots  &/or patches on your skin. Vascularity is also responsible for rosacea, which is sometimes referred to as adult acne.

Rosacea is a condition that causes areas of your face, in particular the cheeks and chin to appear pinkish or flushed, and generally affects people with fair skin. Triggers include spicy food, heat, alcohol, and even embarrassment.

If your complexion appears ruddy, a mix of redness, and brown patches or pigment, you may be suffering from Poikiloderma. Poikiloderma is a cutaneous skin condition characterized by hypo or hyper pigmentation (diminished or heightened pigmentation). The affected skin may appear speckled red, yellowish &/or brown, and grey or greyish black, with scaling, or rough texture & thinness.

Broken capillaries or visible facial veins can be caused by a number of things. One of the most common causes is our harsh Australian climate, and the symptoms are especially more evident in rural areas. Sudden changes in temperature cause our vessels to dilate, and in some instances break.

If you think through an average day, you will see how many times your skin is exposed to extremes in temperatures, from the weather, to air conditioning and heating, and even washing your face with water that’s a little too hot. Other causes may include scrubbing your face too vigorously, microdermabrasion, excessive exposure to the sun, and facial injuries.

The appearance of facial veins & capillaries can also be hereditary, so if your parents have redness or visible facial veins, then chances are you will too.  Another possible cause is alcoholism. Excessive consumption of alcohol over a long period of time can increase your blood pressure, causing the veins to dilate.

Utilising the Max G green light hand piece of the Palomar Artisan Laser, Ageless Clinics offer an effective treatment for vascular lesions associated with veins & capillaries on the face, neck, chest and arms, rosacea, angiomas & poikiloderma.

The Palomar Max G IPL (Intense Pulse Light) uses the selective principle of photothermolysis, which target different chromophores in the skin, which selectively absorb the laser or light energy as heat, and yield the desired response. The damaged lesions are then cleared by the body, removing the appearance of the lesion from the skin. Once the vascular lesions blanch, they resolve within 10-14 days.  You may need 2-3 treatments for total clearance, which are generally spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

The treatment itself is comfortable, totally non-invasive, affordable & fast (you can be in out in 15mins depending on the size of the area that we are treating). The results really speak for themselves.

Leg Veins & Spider Veins

Spindly spider veins & reticular veins on your legs can be unsightly, and have you dreading the thought of baring your legs in public.  They appear as visible red, purple or bluish veins just under the skin, and often form in clusters (angiomas), usually on the ankles, calves & thighs

Spider veins are another common and unfortunate part of the aging process. They are often hereditary (thanks mum & dad!), but other causes include hormonal changes & pregnancy, exposure to the sun, injury, carrying excess weight,  and sitting or standing for long periods of time on a daily basis (this can be exacerbated if you sit with your legs crossed!). Contrary to popular opinion, spider veins are not broken veins, but are intact veins that have simply become dilated or stretched.

Utilising the nd Yag  1064 hand piece of the Palomar Artisan Laser, Ageless Clinics can effectively target veins in as little as 2-3 treatments. The patented technology uses pulses of light at just the right wavelength, to constrict the vessels responsible for leg veins, causing the vein to degenerate & visibly disappear. The laser light passes through the epidermis, only affecting blood vessels, so there is no injury to outer skin.

The Palomar nd Yag laser offers a non-invasive, affordable treatment, that’s fast & effective, with minimal discomfort. You will see noticeable after your first treatment.

Palomar Laser Treatment vs Sclerotherapy

Both of these procedures involves breaking down the veins so that they are reabsorbed into the body, and are no longer visible.

Sclerotherapy involves injecting the veins with saline or other similar solution, approximately one injection per inch, causing inflammation inside the vein, which causes the lumen, or cavity of the vein to collapse, and the vein be subsequently reabsorbed.

Palomar Laser uses a 1064nm wavelength to send energy into the blood & vessel walls, where it is absorbed by hemoglobin. The hemoglobin is heated by the absorption of energy, and the vessel coagulates and closes off. The constricted vessel then degenerates, and is reabsorbed harmlessly into the system.

The advantages of Palomar Laser vs Sclerotherapy is that it’s not invasive. There are no needles or penetration of the skin, and there is no down time. Palomar Laser treatment can allow the doctor or nurse to more effectively target smaller areas, and finer veins than is usual in sclerotherapy.
